ePURE launches video about European ethanol and its role in decarbonising transport

28 June, 2016

The transport sector currently accounts for 25% of the Europe's total greenhouse gas emissions (GHG), and while it has started to experience a small decrease of its emissions since 2008, it is the only sector whose emissions have increased (by 20.5%) compared to 1990 levels. Reducing transport emissions is therefore of key importance to ensuring the success of Europe's climate ambitions to reduce its overall GHGs by 40% by 2030. European ethanol, with its average 63% GHG savings compared to petrol, is a low cost alternative fuel which can be used in the existing vehicle fleet to help decarbonise road transport.
